PETER WETHERELL
PRESIDENT – MAGUS ENTERTAINMENT, INC.
Born in London and residing in Los Angeles since 1984, Peter spent eleven years as an international film sales and distribution executive before forming Magus Entertainment in 1996 to Executive Produce feature films and to provide senior consulting services to the US and international film community. Peter has since specialized in creating strategies for feature film financing, production and distribution companies and has represented a diverse group of production companies, entertainment financing entities, private investors, government film commissions, studio production facilities, foreign distributors and international film festivals.
Clients have included Miscellaneous Entertainment in Los Angeles; the Canadian Media Production Association (CMPA) in Vancouver; the Quebec Film & TV Council (QFTC) in Montreal; Columbia Tri-Star International Television in Los Angeles; British Columbia Film in Vancouver; SODEC / FIDEC in Montreal; Echo Lake Productions in LA; Cinecitta Studios in Italy and Mokko Studio (VFX) in Montreal.
He has previously Executive Produced numerous films including UNDER STILL WATERS, directed by Carolyn Miller; DEEPWATER, directed by David S. Marfield; THE BIG EMPTY, directed by Steve Anderson; 13 CONVERSATIONS ABOUT ONE THING, directed by Jill Sprecher and THINGS BEHIND THE SUN, directed by Allison Anders.
He has previously been a six term Board member of AFMA, (now IFTA), chairing their Industry Relations Committee and continuing to sit on the Executive Council of their Export Association (IFTEA). Peter has facilitated seminars and panels and/or participated as a guest speaker at film financing and distribution events for organizations such as the Cannes Film Festival, the Berlin Co-Production Market, the Canadian Film Centre, UCLA, the DGA, the PGA, IFP/FIND, AFI, IFFCON and the Whistler, Seattle, Los Angeles, Hollywood, CineVegas, Atlantic, Cinequest and Montreal Film Festivals. He has also been a Board Member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts in Los Angeles (BAFTA/LA).
