World-renowned transmedia expert coming to St. John’s
It won’t be long before we wonder why we ever told stories through just one platform.
Transmedia is a new form of storytelling, used by directors, writers, journalists, and even forward-thinking advertising companies. It allows one story to be told through several different media, like television, web or augmented reality. Each medium delivers a different piece of the story, and gives audiences a different way to interact with it.
Anita Ondine is one of the world’s leading transmedia creators, consultants and mentors. She’s also a filmmaker. Based in Australia, she is the CEO of Seize the Media, and the writer, producer and director at her company Touch Light Media.
The St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival is thrilled to announce that Anita Ondine will be in St. John’s this October to deliver a two-day transmedia workshop, as part of their annual Industry Film Forum, which coincides with the Festival.
“Continuing our tradition of bringing world-wide film industry leaders to the province to enhance our own industry’s skillset, we are elated to have Anita enroute,” says Interim Executive Director Maggie Keiley. “There are so many companies, media outlets, filmmakers and producers in Atlantic Canada that will benefit from this workshop. We can’t wait to see the projects that will come out of it.”
Ondine’s two-day workshop will cover:
- the fundamental elements of transmedia
- examples of transmedia projects from around the world
- designing a winning user experience
- integrating game mechanics into a narrative storyworld
There will also be a hands-on component wherein teams develop and pitch their own transmedia projects.
Dates, locations and registration information are all to be confirmed.
