Welcome to Our New Website + We’re Open For Submissions!

Let's celebrate!

Let's celebrate!

Things look a little different around here. We think you'll agree — change is good!

Our Festival is growing and changing every year, and we decided it was time to have a more modern, mobile-friendly website.

(Yes, mobile-friendly! Get out your go-gadgets, and test it out!)

Have a poke around, and tell us what you think.

Submit your film to SJIWFF28

Submissions for the 28th annual St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival open today!

If you're a woman filmmaker and have a film completed after June 2016, we want to see your work. Submissions are open now, with an early bird discount available until Friday, March 10, 2017.

Head over to our Submissions page to learn more about the rules and regulations, as well as the process.

Reorganization

One of our biggest challenges with our old website was organization. A lot of you told us it was hard to find certain information, and the ticket system was confusing.

We’ve worked hard to rectify this, with a clean, clutter-free interface and better drop-down menus! Click around, and get familiar with the new site.

Films

Our films have a new home as well! We want it to be easier for you to get an overview of what’s on during Festival time. Head over to the films section to see last year’s offerings for an idea of how things will look for our 28th annual Festival.

Clicking through the Films & Schedule section, you’ll find information about each film, as well as well screening times and venues. You can even add the event directly to your iCal or Google calendar.

Events

We’re in love with our new Events page! Visitors can browse what’s coming up on the calendar, and then click through to more details about what’s happening. This will allow you to better plan out which screenings you can attend during Festival time (and throughout the year).

We'll update this as frequently as possible, so keep checking in!

(Pro tip: We've got a fun Oscars event coming up in February along with a Creative Meet-up - cinq a sept!)

Getting Here

We’ve ramped up our Getting Here page to provide our Come From Away visitors with a little more information on visiting our beautiful city. You’ll find travel info as well as suggested things to do. As we get closer to Festival time we’ll start updating our blog with more fun St. John’s content.

If you have specific questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Our Communications & Submissions Coordinator, Candice, is a travel writer in her spare time.

Our Blog

We want our blog to be active year-round, promoting our local arts community as well as women in film. Going forward, you can expect broader, more diverse stories from us. Not just quick news pieces.

We particularly want to capture the stories of individual women in our local community and beyond. Are you doing something unique? Do you know a woman who is? Let us know, or pitch us some ideas! We are looking for guests bloggers, too!

IF YOU HAVE STORY IDEAS: Contact candice@womensfilmfestival.com. She’ll even buy you coffee.

SURVEY!

We’re constantly striving to improve our Festival, so we’ve created a survey for past visitors. If you could devote just five minutes of your time to complete it, your feedback will go a long way towards pulling off the best Festival yet! Survey deadline is next Monday, January 23rd.

We’ve even got a little prize package (valued at over $100) to send out to anyone who would like to leave their email address for a random draw, including a gorgeous Feminist Pledge poster from #FemFest.

Thank you for your continued support! We’re so proud of our new home, but we’re still working out the kinks! If you find any errors or mistypes, please send Candice an email at candice@womensfilmfestival.com.
