In celebration of National Canadian Film Day, we are partnering with REEL Canada to present a FREE screening of Meditation Park at The Rocket Room (3rd Floor, Rocket Bakery), followed by a skype Q&A with writer/director Mina Shum.
Admission is first come/first serve. Cash donations will be accepted for the CAPE Fund. Limited seats available. There is no designated parking so please account for travel time as we will be starting the film on time in order to accommodate the Q&A. Film is rated PG.
MEDITATION PARK is a bittersweet comedy about a devoted Chinese-Canadian wife and mother in East Vancouver whose life and family are forever altered after she discovers an orange thong in her husband's pocket, forcing her on a journey of self-discovery, truth and liberation.

MINA SHUM has written and directed five award-winning feature films that have successfully touched international and domestic audiences. Her films have premiered in Sundance, Toronto and Berlin. The New York Times calls her work “wry and winning”. As well as her feature films, Shum’s work includes art installations, essays, lectures and short films. Film titles include Double Happiness, Drive, She Said, Long Life Happiness and Prosperity, Ninth Floor and Meditation Park. Shum has also directed episodic television in all lengths for a variety of networks including CTV, CBC, Nickleodeon, Oxygen, W and MTV/Logo.
