[Interactive] Film Industry Forum Launches in 3 Days
For Immediate Release: The 28th St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival is kicking off another year of [Interactive] Film Industry Forum workshops, events, and panels.
October 16, 2017: The [Interactive] Film Industry Forum will once again run alongside five days of Festival film screenings. The Forum consists of educational workshops, panels, and other events designed to give experienced and aspiring filmmakers an opportunity to hone their craft and advance business skills and market trades locally and internationally.
The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) is contributing $69,823 in funding to enable the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival Inc. to deliver the Forum, as well as the Scene and Heard Film Industry Conference. Planned to launch in early 2018, the Scene and Heard Film Industry Conference will continue the work established by the Forum. Covering many aspects of the film, television, and interactive worlds, this conference improves the export-readiness of film in Newfoundland and Labrador and instils filmmakers and creators with the knowledge to further their careers, and to create new work across various platforms.
“Through the [Interactive] Film Industry Forum, the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival Inc. offers digital and film industry professionals in Newfoundland and Labrador invaluable networking, training and access to new opportunities through collaboration and exporting,” said the Honourable Seamus O’Regan, Minster of Veterans Affairs and Member of Parliament for St. John’s South – Mount Pearl, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA. “Our Government, through ACOA, is committed to making smart investments in initiatives like this, which support the development of the digital and film industry, help foster innovation and economic growth, and help support women in the arts.”
