The St. John's International Women's Film Festival will be celebrating it’s 30th annual festival from October 16-20, 2019 with a program of short and feature-length films of all genres, directed and/or written by women filmmakers (self-identified) from around the world. 

We are a non-competitive, filmmaker-focused festival, accepting entries exclusively via FilmFreeway. We look forward to watching your films.

Exhibition  Formats

If your film is accepted to the Festival, our only accepted exhibition copy formats are as follows:

File Formats

We prefer DCP format for our Opening and Closing Night Gala screenings.
Due to venue restrictions DCP format can only be accepted for Gala Screenings.

Quicktime .mov
using one of the following codecs

  • Apple ProRes 422 (regular, not HQ or LT)

  • AVID DNxHD 145

  • H.264

Note: ProRes or DNxHD preferred over H.264 if possible. We CANNOT accept MKV files due to the difficulty in processing them.

Frame rate, aspect ratio/letterboxing and audio layout should be specified in the file name or in an accompanying text file.

  • Preferred Frame Rate: 23.97p

  • Preferred Audio Format:  uncompressed Linear PCM

  • Preferred Audio Layout: Stereo

Note: We can accept 5.1 Surround but due to venue restrictions audio will be mixed down to Stereo mix.

Tape Formats

Although file format is preferred, we can also accept tape formats in order of preference:
HDCAM-SR 23.98 or 59.94
HDCAM 23.98 or 59.94
XDCAM-HD 23.98 or 59.94

The frame rate, aspect ratio/letterboxing and audio layout must be specified on the tape label.
